Lobster Network -- Don't buy it, Borrow it!

What in the world is Lobster Network?  Well, you may not realize it, but its name tells you everything about it.  Lobster Network stands for:

Well, maybe not quite everything.  What it doesn't tell you is that Lobster Network is a FREE website that allows you to organize your STUFF!

What type of stuff?

  • You can list household items for insurance purposes (these items can be labeled as private records).

  • You can list your homeschool curriculum so you don't buy something you already own.

  • You can list items you want to sell to others (making a public list).

  • You can list items you are willing to share with friends and neighbors (also a public list).

My favorite feature of Lobster Network is that you can keep track of items you've loaned out to friends, or borrowed from friends.  No more wondering what happened to your Algebra textbook ... you'll know exactly where it is, and how long it's been there.  And no more discovering a textbook on your shelf that you realized you borrowed from someone ... now who was it, and how long ago was it?

Lobster Network also allows you to create groups (private or public) where you can share or sell items between group members.  You can view the items they have made public, and they can view your items.   You can only view the public items of friends you have approved on Lobster Network or fellow group members, and vice versa.

The group feature would allow a homeschool group to easily create a lending library of resources.  If each member of the group listed items they were willing to share, and they formed a private group ... it would create a lending library without having to set aside a location for people to donate items to, or without having to create an ever-changing master resource list and appoint a head librarian.

Lobster Network has a helpful list of Frequently Asked Questions to answer your questions.   You can also view these videos to help understand how the website works.    Remember, it's totally FREE -- so check it out!

This item was provided free for our review as a member of the TOS Homeschool Crew.  We received no other compensation, and this review is our honest opinion.  Click the TOS Homeschool Crew banner at the top to read more reviews on this product by other Homeschool Crew members.

This is my next-to-last Homeschool Crew review for this year.  Only one review, and a wrap-up post left to write.   Stay tuned!
