Looks Like Summer: Yellow and Orange (episode 1)

It's not officially summer yet, but it's looking and feeling like summer here. All of my pink spring flowers have faded away. Only a few are still hanging onto some scattered, wilting petals.

Last week the first yellow irises bloomed, marking the arrival of summer flowers (or very late spring).

This week another yellow iris began to bloom.

Monday I spotted our very first day lily! I have always loved day lilies. They're so cheerful! When we lived in Maryland, spotted Tiger Lilies grew in the ditches. I miss those!

Tuesday morning I spotted our second day lily variety blooming. It's orange like the tiger lilies I remember, but it doesn't have any spots.

These trillium start flowering early in Spring, when blue and yellow are still our yard colors, but they are still flowering, through the pink season and now into our yellow and orange season.

We have several different shades of red, orange and yellow day lilies yet to bloom. The yucca should bloom very soon. Hopefully our white hosta lilies will bloom this year, and the pink surprise lilies might make an appearance. But after that ... nothing is left. Just the long, hot, drudgery of summer ... and the golden wheat, and harvest. Okay, it's not all that bad!
