Cerebellum - Advanced Placement Exam Prep DVDs

Cerebellum Corporation has added Advanced Placement Exam Prep DVDs to their Light Speed Video Learning program.

We were sent the Light Speed Chemistry AP Exam Prep DVD to review, which is intended for high school students.  My 9th grader is currently taking biology, so we aren't quite ready for Chemistry, though she has already studied some of these concepts.

The Chemistry AP Exam Prep DVD reviews key chemistry concepts as well as teaching important test-taking skill.  A digital workbook CD-rom is included with the DVD to further enable high school students to prepare for the exam.  All of the information is presented by high-school age students in a positive, encouraging manner.

The DVD begins with 25 minutes of test-taking tips, and then moves into a 30 minute explanation of 30 key chemistry concepts.  This section serves as a refresher course for students preparing for the Chemistry AP Exam, but could also be used to help students understand the concepts during the school year.  I wish I'd had a video like this when I took chemistry, even though I wasn't in an AP class.

Some of the topics covered on the DVD:
  • atomic theory and structure
  • chemical bonding
  • nuclear chemistry
  • gases
  • stoichiometry
  • equilibrium and kinetics
  • thermodynamics
  • precipitation reactions
  • redox reactions

Though we likely will not be signing our daughter up for any AP courses (due to lack of availability for homeschoolers in our area),  I think the Light Speed AP Exam Prep DVDs are  an excellent resource!  Public school students, private school students, and homeschool students can all benefit from these great study tools.  They are well-made and definitely worth the price!

You can view a trailer of the Chemistry AP Exam Prep DVD right here.  The Advanced Placement Exam Prep DVDs retail for $14.98, but they are currently selling for $11.24 at the website.
